Apple Crumble Tart
Apple crumble with a slight twist.
Using the crumble as a pastry base and filled with finely sliced apples. Topped with extra crumble and dusted with cinnamon and icing sugar.
INGREDIENTS
Butter 100g
Brown Sugar 100g
Cake Flour 150g
Apples
Butter 2 tablespoons
Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons
Ground Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon
Icing Sugar for dusting
Ground Cinnamon for dusting
METHOD
Place the softened butter, brown sugar and flour in a bowl and mix together until a dough forms. Roll out the dough approximately 2mm thick and place in mini tart tins. Keep the extra dough, crumble it up and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Halve, core and slice the apples, keeping some with the skin on and some peeled. The amount of apples you will need will depend on the size of your tart tin. Soften the butter and stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon and brush these onto the apple slices. Arrange the apple slices in the base so that they stand upright, mix them so they’re not all even, or create a pattern. Make sure they’re tightly packed as they will shrink a little when cooking.
Bake at 180˚C for 15 minutes.
Sprinkle the tops of the tarts with the extra crumble and dust with cinnamon and icing sugar.
