M is for March.

Apple Crumble. Apples and raisins stewed in butter, brown sugar and cinnamon, topped with a crispy crumble and roasted almonds, dusted with icing sugar and cinnamon. Food typography for my ATE 2020 recipe calendar.

INGREDIENTS

Apples 1.5kg
Raisins 2 tablespoons
Butter 1 tablespoon
Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons
Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Cake Flour 150g
Butter 100g
Brown Sugar 100g
Almonds 50g, flaked
Icing Sugar 1 tablespoon
Cinnamon 1 teaspoon

METHOD

Peel, core and chop apples into even pieces. Place in pot and stew apples with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon for approximately half an hour. Set aside and allow to cool.

To make the crumble, combine flour, butter and brown sugar. Place on a lined baking tray and bake, stirring every 5 minutes.

Bake at 180°C for 15 minutes.

Place apples in pie dish, top with crumble and flaked almonds, then dust with icing sugar and cinnamon.
